Temperature Monitoring is essential for any cold chain operations. It’s the verification and evidence that the temperature requirements have been achieved.
With the technical advances in recent years there has been many models of Electronic temperature data loggers:
- single use
- multi use
- external probes
- LCD screens
- various types of data transfer (connectivity) including USB and Bluetooth.
The thermo-chromatic Temperature Dots are inks which change colour at specific temperatures. Typically they are cheaper than the electronic data logger but have a lower accuracy (approx. 1.0 degrees Celsius).
In the past they have been used as a Freeze Check in cold chain packaging to indicate if the temperature have reach zero degrees.
With new scientific advances they can be manufactured to be triggered in either “ascending” or “descending” directions at a multitude of temperatures. i.e. activate if the temperature goes above 10 degrees Celsius or activated if the temperature goes below -20 degrees Celsius.
